Supermodular Function and Complementarities Between Elements of Organizational Innovation in Manufacturing Enterprise

  • In order to fully understand complementarities between the elements of organizational innovation in manufacturing enterprises, this research used supermodular function and made a validation and comparison analysis of the complementary effect produced in elements of organizational innovation. The result shows that when four elements which strategy, structure, mechanism and culture are in the lower state, the complementary effect is the lowest. And when any two elements are in the higher state together, the complementary effect is greater than accumulated effects from single element in the higher state. While four elements together are in the higher state, the complementary effect is the highest. Therefore, different organizational elements should be considered together in the process of organizational innovation in order to obtain the maximum benefit which organizational innovation bringing.
