Comparison of Different Viscoelastic Models for MDYB-3 Polymethyl Methacrylate Compression at Different Strain Rates

  • Quasi-static compression tests (0.001~1 s-1) and dynamic compression tests (1 000~3 000 s-1) on MDYB-3 polymethyl methacrylate were carried out. Three viscoelastic models: ZWT model, n-Maxwell model, and revised n-Maxwell model, were used to fit its final stress-strain curves, and comparisons of these fitted results were conducted. The results showed that ZWT model is good at low strain rates; n-Maxwell model can not accurately describe the non-linearity; and the revised n-Maxwell model has the best fitting effect among these three models. In practical applications, the ZWT model is the most flexible and simplest, while the revised n-Maxwell model is the most accurate.
