Transmission Design and Performances of a Strong Anti-Jamming Frequency Hopping System Based on Fountain Codes

  • When half of the carriers of a frequency hopping system fails, the system will be paralyzed and unable to realize communication. The characteristics of fountain codes of rateless, low complexity and easy to implement for hardware have been widely applied. Thus, fountain codes can be applied to combat strong jamming and interferences. After in-depth analysis for fountain codes and its decoding algorithms, it is found that the transmission efficiency of fountain codes were influenced under partial band interferences i.e. the sequential and random frequency interferences were discussed. Simulations show that using high data rate LDPC precoding overhead can effectively reduce the decoding cost. Some essential conclusions about the decoding and its parameters were presented, and also some important guidances were given for the actual frequency hopping systems.
