Calculations for Size Effects of Metal Explosion

  • The effects of thickness and size of exploding foils on burst point performance were investigated through electronic measurement methods. Results show that the current and time at burst point will reduce as thickness and size of exploding foil decreases. The FIRESET model was used to calculate current and time of burst point for metal bridge foil at varied bridge size and thickness. The results show that the calculated data are consistent with those experimental ones, which validate the accuracy of the FIRESET model and also the experiment validity. According to the result analysis, the current and time at burst point will linearly reduce as thickness and size of exploding foil decrease.
