Numerical Simulation of Attitude Change of a Projectile After Oblique Perforation of Thin Concrete Target

  • The attitude change of a projectile after obliquely penetrating into thin concrete target was studied numerically by the finite element code LS-DYNA in this paper. By comparing the numerical results with various experimental data, it was verified that the calculation model, mesh, material model and parameters were reliable for simulation. Moreover, oblique perforation of thin concrete target was simulated under different masses, impact velocities and initial oblique angles; then the dependence of the projectile attitude change on the mass, impact velocity and initial oblique angle was obtained. The attained conclusions are helpful for the prediction of ballistic change during penetration of single or multilayer target.
