Study on Actuated Signal Control and Simulation of Intersections

Described the development history of the actuated signal control and many control methods of actuated signals. The basic control principle of intersection actuated signal, the control process and timing design methods were analyzed mainly. Strengths and limitations of control are discussed to timing signal and actuated signal of intersections. The traffic simulation software VISSIM was applied for timing signal and actuated signal. Simulation results are analyzed accordingly. Results show that the actuated signals control is more conductive to higher difference among every entry traffic flow or the overall traffic volume far away saturation intersection vehicular traffic.
