Multi-User Dynamic Complementarity Formulation in Single Bottleneck Model

  • Based on the Vickrey model, the travellers were grouped into different user classes according to their time values. A linear complementary formulation of multi-user dynamic traffic assignment was established after the equivalent proof with the mixed linear complementary formulation. Several simulation experiments were made based on single-user and multi-user respectively. The results show that departure choices of individuals is a function of the ratio value of travel time to early arrival schedule cost and late arrival penalty, which are not the absolute value of travel time, early arrival schedule cost and late arrival penalty. The results also demonstrate the benefit of staggering work start time. The arrangement based on different time values will reduce greatly about the equilibrium cost and increase efficiency of the network.
