Electromagnetic Damage Assessment of Airborne Radar Based on Bayesian Networks

  • Aiming at the problem that airborne radar is facing more and more serious threats by electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapon, the research on electromagnetic damage assessment of airborne radar is carried out in this paper. By analyzing and simplifying the radar's structure, the Bayesian network model is established to assess the electromagnetic damage of the radar, and the network parameters could be determined on the basis of repair time demand. The radar repairing scheme could also be decided based on the expected efficiency of repair. Simulation results show that, under the conditions of 100 m distance, 10 GW power and EMP beam center aiming at the radar, the middle damaged degree of airborne radar is made by high power microwave bomb MK84. Its repairing order is given as well. The electromagnetic damage assessment method proposed in the paper is of military application values for repair and enhancement of the radar suffering electromagnetic attack.
