Influence of Exhaust Pipe Structure on Intake Non-Uniformity of Turbocharged Multi-Cylinder Diesel Engine

  • A one-dimensional performance simulation model of a V-type turbocharged eight-cylinder diesel engine was established and calibrated by experiment and test. Then, the differences of intake non-uniformity among three types of pipes, pulse charging exhaust pipe, constant pressure charging exhaust pipe and MPC exhaust pipe, were calculated and analyzed with the use of this calibrated model. The computed results indicate that different exhaust pipe structures lead to great difference of intake non-uniformity. The intake non-uniformity of constant pressure charging exhaust pipe is close to that of MPC exhaust pipe. But the non-uniformity of the pulse charging exhaust pipe is much smaller than both of above.
