Regeneration of Cathode Material LiCoO<sub<2</sub< from Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries and Its Electrochemical Properties

Abstract
In this work, a solid reaction synthesis process is applied to recover LiCoO<sub<2</sub< from spent lithium ion batteries. The scrapped LiCoO<sub<2</sub< was synthesized at high temperature for adjusting the proportion of Li element and Co element. The structure, morphology and electrochemical property were characterized and tested with the measures of XRD, SEM and circulation volt-ampere. The test results indicate that LiCoO<sub<2</sub< calcined at 850 ℃ for 12 h has good electrochemical performance. The first charge capacity of regenerated LiCoO<sub<2</sub< material could reach 143 mA·h/g. The first discharge capacity could be 126 mA·h/g. After 30 cycles, the discharge capacity of regenerated LiCoO<sub<2</sub< still remains 92%.
