New Method of Motion Parameter Estimation Based on Cross-Correlation and ZFFT

Abstract
An estimation method of targets motion parameter based on correlation of sequential echo bursts of stepped-frequency radar is presented. Further analysis indicates that the estimation error of acceleration will lead to notable deviation of velocity estimation. To reduce the estimation error of velocity, a simplified ZFFT is brought forward. ZFFT can remarkably improve the accuracy of acceleration estimation with small computation load. Simulation results show that the proposed method can estimate accurately the motion parameters and effectively compensate the raw signals from targets motion to achieve the high resolution range profile.
