Elimination of Mechanical and Electrostatic Coupling Errors in Quartz Tuning Fork Gyroscopes

  • To eliminate the mechanical coupling error caused by the asymmetry of quartz tuning forks and the electrostatic coupling error caused by the distributed capacitance between the driving electrode and the picking up electrode, mass balancing method is used to decrease mechanical coupling error and a compensation circuit is designed to compensate the electrostatic coupling error. It has been shown by experiments that the mechanical coupling error and electrostatic coupling error were basically eliminated, and the performance of quartz tuning fork gyroscope was improved obviously.
