Effect of Foam Ceramics Upon Gas Explosion Flame Propagation

  • In order to suppress gas explosion in coal mines, a square shape explosion test pipe with 200mm×200mm cross-section is designed and implemented. Methane explosion flame propagation characteristics without barrier and the effect of foam ceramics on gas explosion flame propagation are tested, and the flame propagation process is taken photo with high-speed photography system. The results showed that methane explosion flame propagation velocity and structure was instable, and foam ceramics could restrain flame propagation and had the effect of quenching flame. The results showed profound theoretical and practical significance to prevent gas explosion in coal mines.
