Preparation and Characterization of Mg(OH)2 Nanoribbons and Nanorods

Abstract
To explore the new halogen-and toxic-free additive inorganic flame-retardant materials,utilizing one-dimensional mass characteristics of PVP macromolecule in solution,one-dimensional nano-sized micelle structure was formed in PVP/ethylene glycol system.The micelle structure(PVP) as the soft-template was exploited to synthesize the one-dimensional(or quasi-one-dimensional) polycrystalline Mg(OH)2 nanoribbon and manorod with relatively high aspect ratio via a low temperature refluxing route.The sample was characterized using XRD,TEM,HRTEM and TG.Test results showecl the sample has higher thermal stability than the same kind of products formerly produced,thus higher safety in thermal operations.
