Effects of Y<SUB<2</SUB<O<SUB<3</SUB< on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Tungsten Alloys

  • Mass fraction of Y2O3 effects on the microstructure and mechanical properties of tungsten alloys with 0~2.0% Y2O3 were studied. The results showed that the average size of tungsten grain decreases from 30.5 μm to 15.0 μm as the content of Y2O3 increased. The grain morphology changed from quasi-sphere to irregular polyhedron. The proportion of W-W and W-M interface detaching on the fracture surface increases as the addition of Y2O3,resulting in the decrease of static tensile strength and elongation. The dynamic compressive strength of tungsten alloys enhances and then reduces as the content of Y2O3 increased. It enhances when the content of Y2O3 remains under 1.0%,however,when the content of Y2O3 goes over 1.5%,it decreases.
