Mechanical Characteristics and Constitutive Model of Alumina Ceramic Subjected to Shock Loading

Abstract
Mechanical response and constitutive model of alumina under shock loading are discussed.Applying plate impact,stress-time curves of ceramic target were measured and dynamic mechanical behaviors were analyzed.Micro-cracks damage constitutive model was developed based on wing crack nucleation and growth,in which the damage parameter was described by the size and numbers of micro-cracks.Results of the model were compared to the experimental results and a good correlation is obtained.
