Numerical Simulation of Damaged Explosive in Shock Detonation

  • A new reaction rate function model is set up based on the KIM pore collapse hot spot reaction model by an analysis on explosive reaction rate function models.Reaction rate function model parameter is acquired by genetic algorithms.Validation of the model is verified by comparing the simulation results with the Forest-Fire model. The numerical simulation is executed to explosive's initiation and detonation process by embedding the new reaction rate function model into finite element analysis program.Numerical simulation results are in good agreement with experimental results of damaged explosives as to their shock initiation and detonation behaviour. The new reaction model can be used to analyse the detonation mechanism of damaged explosives when the porosity and grain size is changed by impact load.
