Multiobjective Optimization of Pavement Management Using Compromise Programming

  • To gain maximal benefits with minimal costs under the constraint of restricted resources for pavement management, a multiobjective optimization method is proposed. The paper formulates a bi-objective optimization model for pavement management using compromise programming. The objective functions are maximizing the average pavement present serviceability index and equipment working time. The constraints include the maintenance cost, manpower, and minimum pavement performance.Optimization models presented are exemplified by an actual pavement network. Results showed that usage of maintenance cost and manpower are 92.8% and 99.9%, respectively. The method proposed is an effective tool for multiobjective optimization of pavement management, and is able to solve the decision making problem.
