LAB: A Location-Aided Dynamic Broadcasting Protocol for Ad Hoc Networks

Abstract
In order to improve broadcast performance in mobile Ad hoc networks,a broadcasting protocol that takes advantage of node location information(LAB) is proposed.A node using LAB,upon reception of a broadcasting packet, divides the adjacent area of previous node into grids, and then finds out the relay grids using location information from them to carry out rebroadcasting.Re-broadcast strategy is decided according to its own location.LAB has been evaluated against three other representative broadcasting protocols. The results showed that on condition of less overhead, higher packets delivery ratio and shorter end-to-end delay can be achieved with LAB.
