Design and Study of Piezoelectric Fuze Transducers

Abstract
A piezoelectric fuze transducer with high transient and omnidirectional characteristics is developed. By analyzing the service conditions to be met in weapon systems and the technical specifications for a contact fuze, the design plan of piezoelectric fuze applying piezoelectric porcelain PZT-5 is put forward. The operational principle and method of adjustment of the fuze transducer are then clarified. Performance experiments showed that the piezoelectric fuze transducer can solve the problem of omnidirectionality for piezoelectric fuze, having fast response time and high reliability. Application tests proved that the piezoelectric fuze met the service requirements.
