Measurement of Miss Distance for Targets with Known Modes of Motion

  • Measurement of miss distance for targets with known modes of motion is studied. According to the parametric function of Doppler frequency and miss distance parameters, a novel miss distance measuring method is proposed. The echo signal is first represented as a gray image with spectral intensity as its gray values by time-frequency transformation. Then the gray image is converted to a binary image by threshold detection. The estimated value of miss distance is then obtained by solving the parametric function of Doppler frequency and miss distance parameters, based on the randomized Hough transform (RHT). Experimental results based on real-life data show that the proposed method can effectively overcome the influence of errors of Doppler frequency on the measurement of miss distance and can improve the precision in miss distance measurement.
