Experimental Study on the Three-Dimensional Two-Phase Flow Field in a Hydrocyclone

  • In order to study the mechanism of separation of the hydrocyclone with separation screen, particle dynamics analyzer was used to measure the three-dimensional two-phase flow field in the hydrocyclone. The measured results show that the main flow in the hydrocyclone is a three-dimensional helical downward movement with an air core directly connected with the underflow pipe. The maximum concentration of the particle occurs near the inner wall of the screen and decreases with the radius. It reaches a minimum near the air core. The size of the particle in the underflow is much larger than that in the inflow and overflow.
