Distributed Cooperative Design Based on I-DEAS

To resolve "information island" problems appearing in the CAD field, reducing the design cost, and to advance the design efficiency, the paper introduces CSCW (computer support cooperative work) technology as applied in CAD, in reaching the design concept of "what you see is what I see". At the same time, referring to the data sharing interface supplied by I-DEAS open library and based on the programming framework of C/S module, attains the module of I-DEAS distributed cooperative design, including one server as the center and several clients as the design participants. In this way the ideal of "what you see is what I see" is basically realized.
