Fast Volume Rendering Methods for 3D Reconstruction of Medical Images

  • An effective fast volume rendering algorithm is investigated. Based on the splatting algorithm, an accelerated algorithm is used to pick up the nearest surface volume and realize fast volume rendering. A new method of separation for volume data is presented. Through this algorithm, high quality images can be obtained in much faster speed. The algorithm is a combination of surface rendering and volume rendering methods, in possession of the strongpoints of both. It is only fit for the reconstruction of opaque objects.
