Imaging of Absorbers Embedded in Highly Scattering Media Using Fresnel Zone Plate Scanning Holography

  • A near infrared imaging system of Fresnel zone plate scanning holography is proposed and the system point spread function calculated. The calculation shows that the system point spread function is quite close to the Dirac delta function. Differences between the experimental results and the theoretical calculation of the system point spread function are analyzed. Experiments in which three metal rings with wire diameter of 1 5 mm, 1 0 mm and 0 4 mm respectively, embedded in a 1% intralipid solution are imaged using the system demonstrated that the reconstruction of the two metal rings with wire diameters of 1 5 mm and 1 0 mm are clear and the reconstructions of the metal ring with wire diameter of 0 4 mm can also be distinguished from the noise. The system is thus shown by experiments to be workable in imaging absorbers embedded in a highly scattering turbid media.
