An Infrared Apparent Radiation Model for Clouds

Abstract
Applicable for cases when the infrared seeker is located within or away from the cloud, an apparent spectral radiance model in the 3~5 μm and 8~12 μm bands (including infrared radiation and reflectance of cloud, equivalence radiation for the sky background and path equivalence radiation) is founded on the basis of previous studies about infrared radiation and reflectance of clouds. Actual measurement of some kinds of middle and low height cloud using Fourier transformation infrared radiometer(FTIR) was carried out. The results of measurement are compared with data from the model. Results show that actual measurements and data from the model are consistent, and the model is applicable in the simulation and analysis of infrared seekers in the 3~5 μm and 8~12 μm bands.
