Extraction of Angular Rate Signal for Micro Quartz Tuning Fork Gyroscopes

Abstract
The principle of micro quartz tuning fork gyroscope and the detecting method for weak angualr rate signals are studied. Based on the approximate dynamical equation of sensing vibration, the steady and transient vibration signals caused by Coriolis forces are studied, and the quadrature error signal caused by the anisotropy of quartz and the fabrication tolerance is analyzed. Differences among the steady signal which contains the angular rate information, the transient signal and quadrature error signal are analyzed, and the method of correlation detection can be used to extracte the input angular rate signal. The practicability of the method is verified by digital simulation at the end.
