Component-Based Design of PDM System on J2EE Platform

In the light of the requirements of virtual enterprise (VE) towards product data management and information sharing, the article presents an approach to establish VR oriented flexible PDM components utilizing J2EE (Java 2 enterprise edition) platform. The article analyzes the design pattern of constructing the components as well as describies in detail the logic design scheme and deployment of the components. The features of flexible scalability and integration of PDM federation pursued by all PDM developers and vendors can easily be implemented with the support of various methods and tools provided by J2EE development platform.
