Abstract
Analyzes the dynamic characteristics of a projectile after its impact with a shaped target, and as well as the effects of the angles of attack and yaw, respectively, on penetration, based on a simplified mechanical model and numerical calculations. The study shows that the angles of attack and yaw will occur when the projectile impinges on a shaped target, and that in its penetration of nonuniform materials, occurrence of the initial attack angle will induce enormous assymmetric effect in the projectile's penetration process, and the angle of yaw gradually increases. The penetration path will become curvilinear, and the effective penetration depth will be markedly reduced.
