Application of Front Panel Data Port Specifications in High Speed Data Sampling and Processing Systems

Abstract
High speed data sampling and data processing require high speed data transport. The paper is focused on the application of FPDP (front panel data port) specifications in high speed data sampling and data processing systems. It analyzes the specification topology, control timing, transport data’s frame structure and interface signal classification etc. It points out that FPDP specification characterizes itself in simple timing, smart transport rate configuration and diminished wait time. Based on FPGA, in the paper an example is given on the use of FPDP specifications in a high speed system, and indicates that FPDP is practical in such applications.
