Tribological Performance Investigation of TiAlN-MoS2/TiAlN Rigid Composite Coatings

  • By adding Al element to TiN MoS 2/TiN composite coatings deposited with the NCUPP technology and partially changing the processes, TiAlN MoS 2/TiAlN rigid composite coatings were deposited on stainless steel. Composition and microstructure of the coatings were studied by SEM and XPS. Bonding strength of the coatings was analyzed by tribological tests. Through depositing TiAlN MoS 2/TiAlN rigid coatings on drills, its frictional, wearing and high temperature resistance performances in the drilling process were seen to be improved evidently. Accordingly, abrasion durability of the cutting tools was advanced markedly.
