A Map Matching Algorithm for Vehicle Navigation Systems Based on Dead Reckoning (D-S) Evidence Reasoning

  • Selection of matching road as a part of map matching algorithm is studied. A map matching algorithm based on dead reckoning (D S) evidence reasoning is proposed. According to the principle of D S evidence reasoning and the vehicle’s running status, the basic probability assignment function for vehicle’s information on position and direction at the moment is designed. According to the D S combination formula, the fusion of position and direction information is made, and the fusion result is used to select the road matching. Reliability parameters on the position and direction information are introduced in the design. Simulation results show that the method is effective and can recognize the road on which the vehicle is running, if the value of reliability parameters is suitably adjusted.
