Design and Realization of the Communication-Link of a Marine Alarm System

Presents the design and implementation of a 110 alarm system. Such a system is used in ships on emergency occations during navigation. The system works on an integrated system mode. The combination of wireless and wired communication sections forms the communication link, which provides the transmission of the alarm information between ships and the control center. The article gives an analysis on the maximum communication distance and the error byte rate adopting the repeated transmit/majority decision. The maximum alarm receiving rate on the basis of the PSTN wired network is also discussed. By using DTMF mode for data transmission on the PSTN, the cost apparently drops and the transmission quality are ensured. Actual applications indicate that the design is practical.
