Tribological Performance and Composition of MoS2-Based Composite Coatings After Storage in Humid Air

  • Humid resistant properties and abrasion durability of MoS 2 based composite coatings deposited with unbalanced nano compound plasma plating technology were analyzed by tribological tests and XPS. It has been found that the tribological performance of TiN MoS 2 coatings decreases rapidly after storage in 60%~70%RH atmosphere and fails finally. However, humid resistant properties of TiN MoS 2/Ti and TiN MoS 2/TiN composite coatings stored in the same atmosphere tend to improve markedly. Humid resistant properties and abrasion durability of MoS 2 based composite coatings deposited with the nano compound plasma plating technology enhance markedly by adding Ti and (or) N 2 to some appropriate amounts.
