Study on Automobile License Plate Identification Systems

In an automobile license plate identification system, plate region detection and character extraction are two key steps before the final recognition. Texture and shape features are used in the algorithm of plate region detection which is based on mathematical morphology. A modified Hough transform is used in inclination detection and character extraction.
