Friction Discs Distortion Phenomena in Wet Clutch

Abstract
To study the influence of different forms of loading conditions on thermal deformations of plates in wet clutch, a test in which the pressure distributions on steel disc's surface were strongly non uniform was done. The experimental results indicated that conical deformation or disc waviness appeared under different loading conditions. Thermal loading concentrated on the outer circumference of the discs during the engagement time may result in a form of conical deformation. Disc waviness may arise if the surface pressure is higher near the inner circumference of the discs than near their outer parts.
