Combustion Behaviors and Adjustment Techniques of Nitramine Propellants

  • This paper began with a brief review of the combustion characteristics of nitramine propellants. The combustion behaviors and adjustment techniques have been explored for nitrate acter plasticized polyether(NEPE) propellant analyzing its binder energy levels coupled with the experimental results from the burning rate catalyst screening and oxidizer's particle graduation . The barning rate catalysts similarly used in composite modified double base(CMDB) propellant can achieve a better catalytical effat on the combustion characteristies of NEPE. It was observed that both the particle size decrease and the particle graduation of ammonium perchlorate(AP) are one of the most important measures to increase the burning rates and decrease the pressure exponents.
