Abstract
The effects of random orientation of microcracks upon the statisical properties of metallic fracture process are studied on the basis of nonequilibrium statistical concepts and methods. Compared with the simplified model of orientation for microcracks, random orientation leads to many changes in various properties of metals such as higher reliability, longer lifetime and a larger fracture strength.
