Multi-Channel D/A Conversion with the Intel 8279 Chip

  • Introduces a new multi-channel D/A conversion circuit, consisting of an Intel 8279 chip, a basic D/A conversion circuit, an analog-switch and devices for sampling and hold. In comparison with other D/A conversion circuits, it makes use of the display-RAM and scanning rays of the Intel 8279 chip to store the conversion data and to scan through D/A channel one by one, thus the CPU can be freed from heavy burdens. The circuit used is simple and low in its cost. Further, this circuit can not only complete 8 channel, 8 bit D/A conversion, but also 16 channel, 8 bit or 8 channel, 16 bit D/A conversion.
