An Electronic Theory on the Thermal Expansion of Rare Earth Elements Having DHCP Structures

  • The functional relations between temperature and the lattice constants of rare earth elements having DHCP structures have been deduced theoretically. Comparison of the calculated linear thermal expansion coefficients at 298 K with experimental results has also been made. It seems that the thermal expansion is sensitive to the microstructure of the crystals.
