WIND TUNNEL EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF LOW DRAG EXTENDED RANGE PROJECTILES

  • This paper introduces the configuration features of low drag extended range projecti1es ,and also the wind tunnel experimental technique of spinning pro ject i les. The paper also analyses drag characteristics and Magnus characteristics of low drag extended projectiles. It is demonstrated that low drag configuration design and the base bleed technique are two effective way.s for reducing drag and extending the range. The bourrlet nubs have the role of reducing the Magnus effect and increasing precision.
