AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE FRACTURE EFFECTS OF PROJECTILE PLUGGING

Abstract
Ballistic projectile plugging problem is studied using a 3.8g steel cylinder in its impact against an aluminium plate (5mm thickness) at the speed of 700 m/s. Experimental data concerned with ths fracture effect of ballistic rojectile plugging were obtained. The emphasis of the paper is laid on the numerical simulation of the projectile plugging process with a two-dimensional Lagrangian 2DP equation. The research shows that the computations is in fair agreement with the experimental results.
