Abstract:
The simulation method of the cellular handoff information platform is proposed by considering the combinations of wireless communication and traffic simulation. The proposed model can improve the previous cellular handoff simulation models by breaking away from some ideal assumptions, such as the same cell size, regular hexagonal coverage and static cell boundaries. Firstly, the vehicle trajectories were generated by the traffic simulation software, Corsim; secondly, Matlab was used to build up the cellular wireless communication network; thirdly, the handoff events were determined according to the handoff protocols and procedures point by point along the vehicle trajectories within the call durations to produce simulation data. Finally, the real road network and communication based on the station facilities in a real city were selected to verify the method and framework of this simulation platform. The cellular handoff simulation result shows a good consistency with real handoff events in terms of variation characteristics, such as Ping Pong handoff, back handoff, multipath handoff and handoff location fluctuations.
