Abstract:
To study bicycle crossing capacity at signalized intersections,a fluid diffusion model is proposed.Based on an analysis of centralization and diffusion of bicycle flow to and out of an intersection,two parameters including the diffusion distance and angle are used to reveal the feature of bicycle diffusion.The model reflects the influence of intersection length,signal cycle,and effective time on bicycle crossing capacity.Based on a comparison analysis of calculated data and field data from 4 signalized intersections in Beijing Zhongguancun Street,the average error is only 8.6%.The model formulated can be used for traffic design and control of intersections.
