Abstract: Grey cognate analysis is used in the fault diagnosis. Pattern recognitionand diagnosing decision are fulfilled. In order to resolve the problem that the faultsample is difficult to be acquired in practice, grey boundary cognate analysis isintroduced into this field. By setting boundary value, simple diagnosis is accom-plished.
