Abstract: A new method of empirical Bayes reliability evaluation for the binomial distribution is presented and its performance is studied . The usefulness of this approach in practice is also examined . Eight kinds of other established methods of empirical Bayes estimation are surveyed and extended . Making use of computer -simulated results , these methods are evaluated and compared with each other in theory and practice and in regard to their risks . The paper then draws to a conclusion on the effectiveness of the various methods in fuze reliability assessment .
