Abstract: Fadell proposed without proof a formula of the Reidmeister trace of the covering mapping of closed surface in April, 1981 - The proof of the Fa-dell's formula is given . The author in proving the formula constructs a particular cellular approximation of the selfmapping mentioned above and applies the property of the Fox calculus of the group ring .
